Desktop Pictures (Wallpaper)
Some fabulous images to use as desktop pictures/wallpaper on your computer.

  Information

What's all this then?

This page offers a series of images intended for use as desktop pictures/wallpaper on your computer. Very occasionally, when I have the time (or when I'm putting off an important task), I create desktop pictures related to my interests and obsessions. Now you get to benefit from my endless hours of toil, which is nice for you.

How did you make them?

I primarily used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (mostly Illustrator), along with a generous helping of talent and an excessive amount of time.

What can I use them for?

You may download them for use as computer desktop pictures/wallpaper if you like, but you may not use them on the web or otherwise publish them in any way, nor may you alter them or use them in your own images. It's only fair, guv.

How do I use them?

Consult your computer's online help system for how to set an image as a desktop picture; it varies depending on your operating system.

WINDOWS 95, 98, NT, etc.
Choose which image you want to download.
Click on the correct resolution for your display to link to the full-size image.
The image will begin to download in a new window. When it is fully loaded, right-click on it and select 'Set As Wallpaper' from the pop-up menu to make the image directly into wallpaper.
Or, alternatively, select 'Save Image As...' and save it into the 'Windows' directory.
Then, in the 'Display' Control Panel, choose 'Background', and in the 'Wallpaper' window, choose the new picture and click 'OK'.

MAC OS 8+
Choose which image you want to download.
Click on the correct resolution for your display to link to the full-size image.
Click and hold (or control-click) on the image and choose 'Save this Image as...' or 'Download Image to Disk', or just drag it onto your desktop.
Open your 'Desktop Pictures' (OS 8) or 'Appearance' (OS 8.5+) control panel, then drag the image from your desktop to the control panel.
Click 'Set Desktop' and close the control panel.

MAC OS X
Choose which image you want to download.
Click on the correct resolution for your display to link to the full-size image.
Click and hold (or control-click) on the image and choose 'Save this Image as...' or 'Download Image to Disk', or just drag it onto your desktop.
Open the 'Preferences' in the Finder (OS X 10.0) or select the Desktop panel within System Preferences (OS X 10.1 or later), then choose the image as your desktop picture.

What formats are the images in?

All images are in either JPEG or GIF format, which can be used on almost all computers as desktop pictures.

Where do I download the images?

Below!

  Download

Choose an appropriate image depending on the resolution of your screen, then click on the name of the image to open it in a new window. You can then use your browser to save a copy of the image onto your hard disk.

He is the terror that flaps in the night!
He is the computer virus which erases your files!
He... is DARKWING DUCK!

Finally, a good-quality desktop picture of the masked mallard, to daringly defend your desktop from
devious and dastardly denizens of darkness! To the ThunderQuack, LP!

Darkwing Duck Logo

Another DW desktop, this time with the logo in more dramatic and moody colours. It even includes
Darkwing's trademark blue smoke!

Gail Porter

One of the most attractive Scottish people around (along with Matt, of course).
All the clever Photoshop masking stuff has been done for you, so you can just sit back and enjoy
a desktop that's easy on the eyes. As Gail might say, "mental, mental, chicken oriental!"

Seven of Nine

Whether you call her Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero-One or just plain Seven, you can't
deny that she's frankly stunning. This image (in authentic LCARS style) will tell you all Starfleet
knows about the drone with the most, so assimilate it pronto.

Created by Matt Gemmell.

Note: this took absolutely ages to create. All the biographical information is correct, as researched
in the Star Trek Encyclopedia and in videotaped episodes of Voyager. The LCARS styling is also fairly
authentic, and you'll notice that even the incidental text at the top of the display bears relevance to
the Voyager storylines. So be duly appreciative, damn you!

Scottish flag

The Saltire, ancient flag of Scotland. Said to have been seen as two white bands of cloud overlaying each
other against a blue sky, as a sign from St. Andrew that a battle was to be won against the Angles.

Created by Matt Gemmell.

Note: if you want some more Scottish items, see the All Things Scottish page.
