Scotland Software Privacy Policy
Our privacy is extremely important
to us. Yes, our own privacy. There's nothing we hate more than "spam"
email (as if society isn't sufficiently saturated with hateful advertising).
For this reason, we presume that
you feel the same way about your own privacy, so we've formed an appropriate
privacy policy.
This page details our privacy policy
in clear terms, and is intended to answer most common questions you
may have. Please don't hesitate to contact
us with any further questions, or to discuss this policy.

This section answers some frequently asked questions about our privacy policy.
You say you won't share
information, but some companies still provide targeted
third-party advertising themselves. Do you do this?
No. We will not share your
information with any third party, and nor will we expose you to advertising
from third parties, by any means or for any reason. This means that you
will not see banner advertising
on the Scotland Software website, nor will you see ads in any of our software
products, and so on.
Once I buy one of your products, will you then send me email about updated versions?
Not automatically.
If you want to receive information about updates, please email us
to say so, and we'll
then gladly send you relevant information about our own products
at appropriate times. But we won't do
so unless you specifically ask. If we have an option to receive
email on one of our web forms, the option
will be disabled by default.
If I wanted to be completely removed from your customer database, would you comply?
Of course. We will
ask for confirmation of a few details to make sure you are who
you say you are,
then we will immediately and permanently remove all of your information
from our files.
The Data Protection
Act (UK) requires that you provide me with lists of any information
you hold about me, and allows charging of a fee for this service.
What fee do you charge?
We do not charge
a fee, and we never will. We will gladly provide you with details
of any information we hold
about you, and perform any amendments or deletions free of charge.
Note that, if you have not personally given
us information before, we will not have any. We do not obtain
mailing lists or other databases from third parties.
Don't you feel that your policy, whilst enlightened, will reduce sales?
No doubt, but that's a small price to pay for privacy and trust.
Is this all just a PR exercise?
Absolutely not. We hate spam
email. It's a daily hassle which we could all do without. If more companies
created,
and abided by, a clear, strict and easy-to-understand privacy policy, we'd
all receive less junk email. We'd like
that more than anything, so we're practising what we preach.
